Yom Yerushalayim
This morning, we watched a video taken at the Kotel last night of people singing and dancing on Yom Yerushalaim. After our "Jerusalem" was locked up for a week, we ceremoniously opened up our block area with joyous singing and dancing. Next, we learned about Piet Mondrian and painted our own "Kotel" with metallic Paint and black tape. The "kotels" are drying all around our room, and they are beautiful!

Tarantula!
The students are examining our new pet tarantula through the cage. We fed it some crickets, are waiting to watch it eat. How exciting!
Yerushalayim
Leaving up to Yom Yerushalayim, the children in Gan Ilanot are experiencing how it felt not to be allowed in. They carefully constructed the Kotel, and the zoo, and are sad not to have access to them. We will all rejoice next Monday, when the gates to Yerushalayim will be reopened.

Manners
In conjunction with our unit on Lag Ba'omer, we learned how to be good friends and use nice words. We reviewed our manners in English and Hebrew and acted them out.

Recycled Art
Our students used scraps and odd pieces to make faces, like the famous artist Hanoch Piven. We've been collecting recycling and cleaning out our art supplies since Earth Day, so it wasn't hard to find fun pieces with which we could create new art.

Yom Ha'Atsmaut
Our brilliant students explored, experienced and experimented with circuits, magnets, stalactites, salt, ice and water. What a memorable learning opportunity! Fun was had by all. Our trip to Israel was a smashing success.
