100th Day of School Celebration
Gan Ilanot celebrated the 100th Day of School with so many special events today. We prepared by bringing in a collection of 100 objects from home for our 100 Museum. We decorated celebratory crowns with 100 dots or pictures. Morah Naomi challenged the children to do 100 acts of kindness, and reminded them throughout the day. We learned that adults try to make 100 brachot per day. At library today, we read so many books about the 100th Day of School. After recess, we had a scavenger hunt for 100 numbered Hershey Kisses hidden around our room. We had to identify the number and match it to the same number on our 100 chart. Then we got to eat them, yum! We learned about Pointillism and made our own art with hundreds of dots. During Writing Workshop, the students wrote about what they can do on the 100th Day of School that they could not do on the first day of school. Every student counted out 100 treats in a bag to give as Mishloach Manot next week. We drew portraits of what we think we will look like when we are 100 years old. During Quiet Reading Time, the children sat in pairs and read math books to each other. We finished our day with cake made with hundreds of chocolate chips, and Story Time with Morah Jessica about the 100th Day of School.
